Kejimkujik National Park

It is pretty wild that in all my years of living here, I only made it out to Keji once–but it was a time I’ll never forget.

We launched at Jake’s Landing, and had to paddle about 20 minutes to get to the site, but winds weren’t that strong so crossing the lake wasn’t too difficult.

A good friend of mine was working as the park ambassador to Keji for the summer, so he hooked us up with an incredible site on an island where we spent a good day and half.

We all had the best time.

It was perfect weather so we went swimming and played in the sun and water all day.

The site itself was huge, with thick forest surrounding it.

We even had hammocks to hang out in!!

The sunset was super gorgeous, so naturally I took a bunch of pictures.

As the sun was going down, we made hot dogs (and veggie dogs for me!) over the fire and continued to drink beer and listen to music til we went to bed.

Though it was a bit cramped with three of us in a two-person tent, I will never forget how happy I felt to be where I was in that moment, with my friends, falling asleep staring at a sky filled with more stars than I could count.

The next morning, our buddy made us coffee and we had bagels for breakfast over the fire. Our other friend who was giving us a ride home came to hang out for the day, which was really nice.

She also brought us more beer (so nice!), so we kept the party going until we had to paddle back in the late afternoon and head back to the city.

I could not have asked for a better first visit to this gorgeous spot, and I hope to go at least once more next season!
